Dr. Claudio Darío Dufour is a staff physician at the Naval Hospital of Buenos Aires, Professor of Hematology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires, Medical Director of Cryoholdco Biocells Biotech, and Consultant Hematologist at D. Thompson Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dr. Dufour is a highly experienced physician specializing in internal medicine, hematology, transfusion medicine, and stem cell transplantation. With more than thirty years of professional experience, he currently serves as a professor at the University of Buenos Aires, where he teaches courses in hematology, stem cell transplantation, and cellular therapy. Since 1990, he has been a pioneer in the development of stem cell transplantation in Argentina and, since 2008, has led the stem cell transplantation unit at the Naval Hospital of Buenos Aires. He has made major contributions to the fields of hemato-oncology and cellular therapies, leading numerous initiatives aimed at improving hematologic health in Latin America and Asia. After training at the New York Cord Blood Bank (CBB) in 2002, he played a key role in promoting cord blood transplantation and storage, as well as in advancing healthcare education. He holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Management from Dr. Favaloro University and a qualification in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation from the University of Valencia, Spain. His dedication to medical excellence is reflected in the many positions he has held over the years, including AABB Cellular Therapy Assessor since 2012, AABB International Ambassador from 2015 to 2018, and member of prestigious scientific societies such as ASH, EHA, AABB, and ISCT. His research activities focus on stem cell applications and innovative cellular therapies, with future projects dedicated to mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), exosomes, and related scientific challenges. In addition, Dr. Dufour has solid expertise in quality management, as he is a certified ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor. His broad expertise and leadership continue to inspire both his students and the wider international medical community.
